We are proud to offer our players further opportunities to travel and play abroad while learning about new and exciting cultures. Partnerships with Roanoke Star Soccer Club, FCN, a professional Super Liga team in Denmark, RIASA (Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy) and Travel and Play allows us to offer fantastic and once in a lifetime tours to our players.

It started in 2014 when we embarked on our first ever trip to Denmark and Sweden to stay at Danish Super Liga side FCN before traveling to Gothenburg, Sweden to participate in the world's largest youth sporting event, the Gothia Cup! Every summer our current U15 Boys and Girls are offered the chance to attend this amazing experience.

Week One
Denmark, Farum

Players have the opportunity to stay at the first class facilities of Farum Park, the home of FC Nordsjaelland. Players and coaching staff stay in a hotel built into the FCN stadium. Players train with the professional coaching staff of FCN on the stadium turf.

FCN has a clear philosophy and identity on how they want to play and develop youth players. FCN believe in attractive, aggressive, attacking football, high pressing and all players must be technically sound and have the ability to use both feet. FCN is known for their focus on youth and talent development and has clear pathways for Academy progress to the first team. Around the FCN facilities you will see the FCN motto - Mod, Glaede, Holdand and Dedikation. This means courage, joy, team spirit and dedication; words that FCN live by.

As well as training sessions, players have the chance to meet the FCN Academy Director, professional first team players and participate in a question and answer session. As we travel when it is in the off-season, we also have the chance to watch the first team take part in pre-season friendlies as they prepare for their league season in the Super Liga.

Players, coaches and parents take in some of Denmarks beautiful sites, visting Fredriksborg Castle in Hillerod, Tivoli Gardens (an amusement park), canal tours and visits to Viking museums as well as spending time to explore Copenhagen.

During the trip to Denmark, friendly games are arranged for our players. In 2014 we visited Praseto Idraets Forening for an evening of games and BBQ and participated in a mini-tournament hosted by FFK Frederiksvaerk which included our partners Roanoke Star, Minnoesta Black Hawks and FFK Frederiksvaerk. In 2015 and 2016 we also played local Danish teams in a series of friendly and mini-tournament matches.

Week Two
Sweden, Gothenburg
The World Youth Cup - GOTHIA CUP

In the 2nd week of our trip, we travel to Gothenburg where the players spend the week in school dorms. This week is the GOTHIA Cup tournament where thousands of teams and players from all around the world come together to compete in a World Cup style tournament.

During the week players will visit the Heden Center, the hub of the Gothia Cup, a vibrant area with sports tents, music, soccer fields, beach soccer, food stalls and more! On the opening day we go to the Ullevi Stadium for the famous opening ceremony, modeled on the Olympics ceremonies. An amazing event with live music, dancing and fire works.

Through our partnerships with our travel companies, we are able to offer seperate tours to meet the different needs of our players. In 2015, we organized a trip for our female players to attend the Women's World Cup that was held in Canada.

On Friday June 19th, 2015, eighteen (18) of our female players from our 02, 01, 00 and 99 teams will depart San Antonio for Montreal in what will be a fantastic trip for our ladies as they head to the Women’s World Cup!

While in Montreal we will watch live games from the World Cup including games from the round of 16 and quarter finals. In between watching the tournament, we will play a series of friendly games against local teams CS MRO, Dorval Tigers FC, SJ Elite Barons and more. Players, coaches and parents will also enjoy the culture and have the opportunity to visit Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec!

June 19th, 2015.

The girls met at the aiport at 5.00am this morning full on energy and ready to make their trip to Canada to experience the Women's World Cup. The girls made it through check in and security with a breeze and off they went to to Canada, via Washington DC. The team arrived safely in Montreal and made their way to the hotel to check in. The girls than headed out for dinner before an early night after a long day of traveling. Although today was made up of largely traveling, the players had a great time sharing stories and discussing the World Cup, the plans and the itinerary with Coach Sally.

June 20th, 2015.

Great start to the day, after a light breakfast the girls took some time to walk around Montreal to take in the sights and pick up a few souvenirs. As they were wandering, they experienced a chance meeting with two of the Korean National Team players!!! The two players were fantastic and jumped in on a picture with all of the girls. Visit our FACEBOOK page to view the pictures! (Like the page to keep upto date with all the action) This afternoon the girls will play their first games of the tour....Check back tomorrow for the results!

June 21st 2015.

The girls have now played three games vs local Canadian teams. Our 02/01 combined team played the CS MRO U14 girls, our 00/99 combined team played the MRO U16 girls and the 02/01 team played their 2nd game vs the Dorval Tigers. Three very competative games played on the Turf field at the university of Montreal. Today, the girls also went to watch the France vs Korea game at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. What a fantastic experience, watching a live World Cup game in Canada! The girls had an amazing time and now look forward to going to the England vs Norway game tomorrow.

Tuesday June 23rd 2015

On Tuesday June 23rd, the girls played some more exhibition games against South Jersey Barons and Ottawa South United. Before heading back to Montreal tomorrow, we will tour Ottawa and have the chance to do some more sight seeing and take in the local culture. The 00/99 girls will then play their final friendly game of the tour vs. Lakeshore tomorrow (Wednesday June 24th) night.

After watching France beat Korea 3-0, the girls have been very busy, participating in some more games, sightseeing and watching England book a place in the Quater Finals with a 2-1 win over Norway!

The girls then traveled to Ottawa were they practiced at Brewer Park. At Brewer Park, the girls met some local children who were amazed to see us and wanted photos and autographs; a taste of being a professional soccer player!

After practice the girls went to see England vs. Norway on Monday night. Coach Sally certainly got the girls in the spirit and after going 1-0 down, the English ladies fought back to win 2-1 with a stunning winner from Lucy Bronze! The girls then enjoyed celebrating the USWNT as they beat Columbia 2-0 with goals from Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd. England face Canada in the next round as USA take on China.

Thursday June 25th, 2015

Another busy few days! The 00/99 Girls played their final exhibition game of the tour on Wednesday when they took on Lakeshore. Before the game, the group spent the morning in Montreal and toured the city including Notre Dame Basilica.

However, arguably the highlight of the trip came on Tuesday night (June 23rd) after dinner. The girls were out enjoying dinner when none other than USWNT Super Star Forward Alex Morgan was in the same restaurant. Coach Sally waited until Alex had finished dinner and asked if she would pose for a picture with our girls! Alex gladly obliged and made some young female players very happy indeed!
