The Youth Development Program

Players will enhance their skills and passion for soccer through professional training in a fun, team environment. Practices take place twice a week with qualified and experienced trainers. Games are also coached by the SA United trainers. The development league plays 6v6 which allows players more time and touches on the ball, 50% play time is enforced with an emphasis on individual development and enjoyment of the game. Home games and practices take place at McAllister Park.

Please note that the developmental program is NOT select soccer and anyone interested in playing can sign up. There are no try outs, and 50% play per game is compulsory. We are dedicated to making this the best youth development program in San Antonio where our players can learn and develop in a friendly enthusiastic atmosphere.

Youth Development Program Additional Information

SA United Soccer Club is run by a team of full time professional staff and committed volunteers. As a club we strive to develop all players for the future, not just for a season. This begins in our development program! We believe that our U8, U9 and U10 players are the future of our club and as such we are committed to providing them with the highest levels of training.

The SA United Director of Youth Development and Director of Coaching are responsible for assigning trainers to all teams. Trainers coach their team 2 nights a week and are present at every game. Teams also have a parent manager who is responsible for communication between staff, players and parents. All SA United training staff hold national and/or international coaching licenses. Trainers are first aid and child protection qualified, and are also thoroughly trained in the Long Term Player Development coaching methodology. For more information on our training staff please go to our trainer bio page. For more information on Long Term Player Development please view our coaching methodology page.

The SA United coaching staff will teach and develop the players to improve technically and will assist them in making the correct decisions in game situations. Coaching staff follow a curriculum designed by the Developmental Director and approved by STYSA. Training is designed to maximize individual touches on the ball and individual skill development.

Teams will train on EITHER a Monday and Wednesday evening OR a Tuesday and Thursday evening.
